The enemy always attacks the areas of our lives where God has blessed or favoured. Instead of questioning why the attack is happening rejoice and launch your counter attack. The thing is the tricks of the enemy are not new, they are so old and easily identifiable through the help and revelation of the Holy Spirit. Peter warns us in 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. The key is for us to stay vigilant to his schemes.
I love the temptation of Jesus as recorded in Matthew 4:-11. It is loaded with so much revelation. Thank you Holy Spirit for the revelation. In the previous chapter, John the Baptist had baptised Jesus and God announced Jesus as His beloved Son in whom He was well pleased. Next Jesus goes into the desert and fasts for 40 days and 40 nights and coming out of that He faces the devil. The devil tempts Jesus as He is coming out of His fast like what kind of timing is that? I believe there is something God wanted us to; that is the enemy always attacks in areas where God has favoured or blessed.
Think about it for a moment.
Pay close attention to the words the enemy uses
3 “Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
5 “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’…”
In Matthew chapter 3 the baptism of Jesus takes place and God announces Him to the world as His beloved Son. Chapter 4 the enemy tempts Him by asking “if You are the Son of God?” What was the enemy doing? He was attacking the area where God has blessed or favoured, ie he was attacking Jesus’ identity because at His baptism He had been announced as God’s beloved Son.
Where there is an attack in your life, that’s where God is blessing or favouring. If there is an attack on your finances, that’s where God is blessing. If there is an attack in your job, that’s where God is blessing. If there is an attack in your relationships that’s where God is blessing. Don’t lose heart. Instead raise up your worship. Raise up your praise. Raise up your prayer.
