I was listening to a John Gray sermon the other day and he dropped some deep revelation I wanted to share.
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. 14 And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?”
15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him.
16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
Jesus was not announced to the world as the Son of God after He had performed miracles. One would think after He had raised Lazarus from the dead would have been a great time and moment to drop that announcement that He was the Son of God. After He had opened the eyes of the blind would have been a great moment to make that announcement but no the announcement that Jesus was the Son of God was made before Jesus begun His ministry. I believe there’s something God was communicating to His children.
God was showing the world that Jesus’ Sonship had nothing to do with His ability to perform miracles, Jesus’ Sonship was not based on activities, it was rather is based on relationship with the Father. In the same way my sonship, your sonship is not based on activities but rather it is based on the fact that when we gave our lives to Christ and became believers, that very act sealed our sonship with God. Galatians 4:7 clearly points this out “So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are His child, God has made you also an heir.“ Let that sink in for a moment!
What this means is that your sonship is not based on your activities, how many departments you serve in church, how many times you lead in church, it is simply based on the fact that God loves you and you are His child. Nothing can change that. Do not ever allow anyone or anything to convince you otherwise because it is not true.
Your sonship is secure.
