Zimbabwe International Women’s Award (ZIWA) Blogger of the Year Nomination.

I am so pleased to announce that I have been nominated for a Zimbabwe International Women’s Award (ZIWA) Blogger of the Year Award.

The nominations were announced last week and I am a little late to the announcement party. Man words could never describe how this nomination makes me feel. To be nominated blogger of the year, to have been shortlisted and chosen from probably what was thousands of submitted nominations, WOW I am truly honoured.

Some are probably wondering how I was nominated, well the process is simple really. ZIWA opened up nominations to the public to submit their nominations then from there, the ZIWA team selected the final nominees in each category.

I do not have much else to say expect PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE vote for me, share and tell your people to vote for me. Voting is unlimited and closes on the 30th of September so you can vote as many times as you would like.

Here is the voting link http://ziwa.twunhu.com/vote/.

Below is the bio the ZIWA team posted about me on their Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Colleen Vimbainashe Chifamba is a disability activist who raises awareness about disability issues in Zimbabwe through her blog ‘Life Through The Disability Lens’.

She was born with the birth defect known as spina bifida and although she has not allowed her disability to limit her or her dreams, she does write very candidly about the challenges that she faces as a Zimbabwean woman with a disability. She refuses to be viewed as inspiration porn as she feels doing so objectifies her disability and minimizes the daily struggles she goes through.

She is passionate about the empowerment and inclusion of people with disabilities in Zimbabwe. Her dream is that one day people with disabilities will no longer be treated as outcasts but rather accepted and treated as equal citizens. Through her blog, she hopes that people’s perception of disability is not only challenged but also changed. One of her future ambitions is to set up an organisation that empowers people with disabilities in Zimbabwe particularly children.

Since 2015, as a result of her blogging, she has been modelling for an African-Australian designer and showing the fashion industry that inclusion is indeed possible.

Thank you all for following and reading the blog. I truly appreciate it!

Colleen 🙂

  1. I’m so very proud of my internet daughter in Christ. Keep moving higher and don’t change a thing about self or the way you do things unless it is a change from the Holy Spirit of God. I love you and miss you. 🙂
