#ZimCitiesForAll is a campaign by fellow disability activist and friend Edmore Masendeke. The purpose of the campaign is to not only raise awareness of disability issues but to also draw attention to how Zimbabwean cities can become inclusive and accessible for every citizen especially those with disabilities.
This is a campaign that is very close to my heart because of course having been born and breed in the capital city of Zimbabwe, Harare, I know the frustrations of how inaccessible the city is for people with disabilities. I once wrote (Disability Friendly Homes) a personal account of some of these frustrations particularly to how narrow the doors are hence making it extremely difficult for wheelchair users.
For the past 20 days, Edmore has been posting on his blog The Diary of a Disability Advocate different ways in which Zimbabwe cities can become inclusive and accessible for people with disabilities. I won’t say much to take away from what he has already said so if you have a chance, please do check out his blog to learn more about how Zimbabwean cities can be inclusive and accessible for people with disabilities and what role you can play to make this possible.
In the meantime you can watch these short videos below which are also part of the campaign.
