Everyday Is A Gift, Make It Count.

“Teach us to number our days
so that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
Psalm 90: 12
Post number one, I made it whoop whoop!!! It’s one of those “Mama I’m on tv” moments. Haha forgive me. I’ve started blogs before and deleted the accounts before they even took off. The fact that you are reading this means this baby was actually birthed and not aborted like all the other ones. I read this verse the other day and thought WOW what a powerful verse. This verse really spoke volumes to me and I hope I will be able to articulate all that I got from it. I titled this post “every day is a gift….make it count” because that’s what I got the most from it. I broke it down into two parts “teach us to number our days” is the first part and “so that we may gain a heart of wisdom” is the second part. What stood out from the first part is the concept of numbering our days that is the fact that we have to ask God to teach us to number our days is a reminder that we are not on this earth forever. Having this in mind propels me to understand that each day I live to see is a gift from God which leads me to the second part. The second part of the verse indicates to me that once I understand that every day is a gift from God then I have to make it count no matter how horrible a day I am having, that’s the heart of wisdom King David spoke of. You see such verses are so important to me not to say all other verses in the Bible are not important, but when you have a disability it is so easy to have a negative attitude and view each day as another burden. I come from a country where people with disabilities are viewed as a burden; as a result it is so easy to fall into the negative frame of mind where you wake up angry and bitter. Having a relationship with Jesus has certainly helped me to accept and view my disability as a good thing from God. I used to have days where I wouldn’t want to wake up at all and wished I died in my sleep because I hated my disability so much but God did a work in my heart and now I make it a point to make the most out of each day. I may have a disability but hey I am alive, I am not on a life support machine, I have a million reasons to make each day count so do you !!!!!!
